Study on the impact of the high speed rail on the Madrid – Levante interurban bus corridor

As a reaction to the start of operation of the HSR, the bus operating company in the Madrid – Levante corridor commissioned Diadro a study to optimize its strategy in the new situation.

To accomplish it, Diadro carried out a campaign of stated preference surveys designed to quantify the relative importance and the monetary value of different variables that could influence the choice bus – high speed train (price, travel time, frequency, quality characteristics of different modes and services operating in the corridor, etc.).

With the results of the surveys different demand split models depending on the type of user were adjusted.
