The analysis was used to prepare the tender issued by the Andalusian Regional Government for the construction of the New Malaga Hospital and its future parking lot.
The potential demand for parking at the New Hospital was analyzed for different days and times, as well as the availability of free and paid parking spaces in the surrounding area.Factors such as the expansion of the Málaga Metro network were taken into account.
A comprehensive fieldwork was undertaken to estimate the volume of vehicles using the parking facilities of nearby hospitals and to characterize the travel behavior of people accessing them. Data collection activities included:
- people and vehicular counts
- surveys of employees, visitors and patients
- rotation surveys
- an inventory of parking supply
